I am heading to May 17th Preakness... I am waiting for the post standings on Wednesday to read up on the horses and such. But, how do I bet? I did a mock bet on the kentucky derby, just to see. I did good, but now its with $. Can someone tell me the best way or a website that will help explain it? Thanks

They say that playing poker is gambling. That there is too much chance in it. Well, why in the heck do they allow horse betting? Seems you have 0% chance to affect the outcome. Seems 100% chance. At least Poker does have some skill, otherwise how can someone win tournaments more than 1 time. I am confused by why they allow one and not the other? I understand that vegans have strong views on animal welfare and I'd like to know what the general vegan view is on competitive sports involving animals, such as horse/dog racing? As a horse owner, a vet and and someone who has been seen going hoarse in Cheltenham, I have coflicting views within my own self. I'd love to hear what others think about it.

I have recently watched the movie "Pharlap" which was based ona true story. After finishing watching it, I realised that horse racing can be really cruel to the horses. I saw how hard they pushed the horse, made him sick, and how the crowd would 'poison' or hurt him if he lost or in fact even won a race. Does anyone agree with me? That horse racing is cruel?

I watch horse racing sometimes but I get confused when poeple talk about the odds and the bets. Can anyone explain? Thanks!

When I lived in Las Vegas I used to go over and watch horse racing and do a little betting. I sat by this old guy a few times, who used to come in with different "Betting Systems" and try them out. Most were not very good, but one day he was using a system where he took the Morning Line and grouped the horses by starting position Then he assigned values to each position and the total value from the groups determined what groups he bet on. He bet on the highest values and bet WPS. He did very good the few days I watched and talked to him. Has anyone ever heard of this or something similar?

I am sure there is a winning soccer betting system out there, can anyone point me to the right direction please.
